A wooden stool designed by EMBRTrek. Constructed out of campus greenwood and salvaged tree limbs, this stool remains casual and reliable while displaying the beauty of recycled material.
Initial Concepts
The design draws inspiration from the sci-fi design language of franchises such as Titanfall and Halo, which often include full head encasement, limited or no physical "visor", and other visual language decisions consistent with science fiction. Given the quick timeline of the project, only a few different iterations exist. The intial sketch was traced over a reference of the human head to ensure dimensional accuracy. After the sketch is refined, the dimensions and features are accurately transfered to a side view.

Construction

Shop drawings of our final model.

Given the size of our planks, we han to split our seat up into sections.

The raw materials of our stool. The logs were cut from local campus trees and the limbs were recovered after storms.

We cut and processed the wood logs into planks ourselves.

The seat was CNCed and connected with polyurethane glue.

Because of the irregularity of individual limbs, we created a custom rig to consistently CNC each limb joint.
